Travel & Events

Traveling and experiencing new things is one of my favorite things to do.  I grew up in a family that loved to travel and create new memories and experiences along the way and I hope to do the same for my family.  Take a glimpse into some of my travels and events or happenings that I've experienced.

Louis Vuitton Flagship

The NYC Louis Vuitton flagship store is getting a major upgrade!  This has to be one of the most innovative and unique ways I have ever seen a building concealed while construction is taking place behind the scenes.  It's really amazing to get up close and literally touch it.  It's like they supersized a stack of six of their iconic Trianon luggage trunks.  It has over 800 metal rivets that are each etched with the 'Louis Vuitton' name.  Not to mention all the other metal and chrome plated details like luggage clasps, corner brackets and 'leather' handles and of course the classic Monogram pattern.  The building wrap is an amazing work of art so I just know what's going on under wraps has to be phenomenal!  It also makes me wonder what will they do with all the unique elements that they created for this facade wrap when they take it down??  It would be so cool to own a piece of that; I can envision the rivets as artwork on a wall.  Another amazing feature they added is perimeter lighting on the building that illuminates the structure at night.  I would highly recommend walking by if you in the area.

In case you can't wait to make your LV purchases you can always go around the corner to their 'temporary' store location.  It's located in what use to be the Nike store a while back then Tiffany & Co. leased the space for their temporary store while they completed their renovation.  (See below for that one!)

Tiffany & Co. Flagship

The impeccable Peter Marino, and OMA New York led by Shohei Shigematsu have worked their magic at the updated Tiffany & Co. Flagship store.  The new store has been open for more than a year now and it still looks just as stunning as it did when it initially relaunched in April 2023.  Not only did the team completely transform the entire building but they also added a three-story volume on top!  The 'experience' (because you can't just call it a store) is truly beautiful.  Not only are you transformed upon entering thru the doors; it's a feast for the eyes in so many different ways.  But of course you also can shop till you drop and then finish with a savory meal in the Blue Box Cafe by Daniel Bould.  My recommendation is to visit when you ample time to truly walk the building and be able to explore the different spaces, rooms and categories of goods offered.  Even then you may have to return for a second trip or go back to purchase that stunning necklace you can't stop thinking about.  At any rate, I started off by meandered the first floor and taking in the stunning imagery on the walls.  You are immediately transported when you walk thru the doors even if it's pouring rain outside it's always a beautiful and sunny day inside thanks to the clever designs within.   Next, I took the elevator to the 5th floor and popped in to have some jewelry cleaned and continued up the stunning staircase to the Blue Box Cafe and home accessories on the 6th floor.  The tableware, wedding gifts, candles and home decor items are full of patterns, luxe materials and rich colors.  After creating my mental wish list I opted to take the stair down to the other levels.

The sculptural spiral staircase is complimented by a decorative railing which almost appears to have floating orbs on it.  Paired with a luminous pearlescent wallcovering you feel like your floating as you walk down the stairs.  What's even more lovely is as you land at the base of the staircase on level 3 you are suddenly greeted by this Parisian-modern sculpture.  The Venus of Arles by Daniel Arsham is a bronze & steel piece depicting the Greek goddess of love and beauty in a modern form.  It fits perfectly within Tiffany's iconic color as this sculpture is patinated in shades of green and blue.  I'm sure quite intentionally the sculpture is installed here as this level where the engagement diamonds are on display; right at the heart and soul of Tiffany's themselves.

I truly enjoyed this visit to Tiffany's and experiencing the design features, material palette and of all beauty that went along with it.  Definitely a city Landmark not to be missed.
